Drop The Presses!

Intrepid repurrter Daphne here, with a story of how my bean has rescued yet another little critter.
This time, it was a sparrow who was trapped in the chicken coop all night long. By the time Not The Mama got out there to open up the joint for the day, the little birdie was in shock. I'd be too if I was trapped in there with all those noisy chickens, who drop their poop just anywhere they please (not litter box trained AT ALL, can you imagine?).
Well, Not The Mama scooped up the little shocked birdie and gently got it to drink some cool water. Then he wondered what to do with it. He was afraid if he put it in a bush, or on a fence post, it might drop off and hurt itself.
So he put it into a little covered box (with air-holes!) in the shade on the deck for a while, out of those poo-dropping chickens' reach, and waited for a few hours before opening the box. The little birdie seemed to be doing better, but was scairt still. So Not The Mama left it alone.
Later in the afternoon, the little birdie was gone. We hope she flew off to be back to her family, and didn't drop off the deck!
~~~
In other news: we might have more little birdies soon, but this time of the poo-dropping chicken variety. Not The Mama dropped an exclusive scoop onto my desk: our hen Frenchie is sitting on a bunch of eggs!
~~~
In case you were wondering, today's Manic Monday word is "drop".
Drop on in to Manic Monday Headquarters to see what that's all about.
(The linky box graphic is in our sidebar over on the right...)
Meow for now,
Daphne

  1. I hope your shocky little bird was joyfully flying once more. Those poopy dropping chicks can be awfully cute ... not up to kitty cleanliness standards but sort of adorable in their own way.
