Look What Bessie Brought In

This morning, we had rain, rain, rain. Bessie stopped in to see me before she went to work at the diner, then a few minutes later she returned. She had a drenched little shaking ball of wet in her t-shirt. I toweled the little bit off, and she got a baby blanket from the basement.
Bessie had to go to work, leaving me with my new friend.
Once the little bit of fluff dried off and stopped shaking, it fell asleep clutched in my arms for a long time. Then when it woke up, we tried some stinky goodness. Only a tiny bit at a time, because under the fluff is skin & bones. Plus, both ears are full of scabs, probably from ear mites, and its eyes are gummy and runny. So a trip to the V-E-T is in order for Monday.
I haven't gotten a good look through the floof under the tail yet, so I'm not sure if it's a little boy or girl. Right now, I'm calling it Ubee. Because that's what I kept murmuring as it was shaking, "You'll be all right" became "U bee alllll riiight" until it fell asleep.
Jazper isn't too thrilled, but he got a sniff, then the sun came out and he decided a nap in the display window was in order.
Now Ubee is asleep in the PTU, after a bit more stinky goodness, and I am taking a break to get a late lunch - and show you all Ubee's first photos.

  3. Ubee is very cute - we love those bright eyes even if a little runny. Not the Mama & Bessie - as formally homeless kitties ourselves, we would like to thank you for taking care of this little one. We know you will find Ubee a good furrever home.

Awwwwwww! Ubee is beyond adorable! You're such good people to care for homeless kitties! We wanna purr all over you and Bessie. Do you need money for the vet? Or does the rescue organization you work with help with those things? Our Lady's willing to help if you need it. That little fluff reminds her of a kitty that came before, and she really really really wants to cuddle him/her (not to mention keep him/her). Purrrrrrrrs!

Wowww... Ubee is waaayyyyy too cute! I agree with all the above posts that you are wonderful, Mo. I am so happy that you and Bessie are are caring for this little gem. I want that baby! I'd play Mom & Dr./Nurse all at once to a baby like that. Alas, I'm too far away and I've promised my Shadow that he can be an only cat until his time ends. He's 16 1/2 and not about to accept a second cat in the house, haha.

Reba (http://rebasrun.blogspot.com) and I are both putting this blog on our Animals that Blog blog rolls... we hope you'll add us to your links if you haven't already.

Hugs from me and my furkids.

  23. Oh, such a little guy. Obviously there's an eye infection going on. Probably needs a round of antibiotics.

Bless you for your work in caring for all these strays!
