Daphne & Chloe On Vacation

Daphne and Chloe went on vacation, and they were interested in finding a pet bug on their trip.  So, they've ended up at the Cincinnati Zoo, because they have one of the best Insect Houses in the whole country.
They've looked at the hissing cockroaches, giant walking sticks, and the leaf cutter ants, and even at the wall of aquariums of things that eat insects like archer spitting fish, when suddenly, they see the habitrail wall of the naked mole rats:

Naked mole rats are one of Not The Mama's favorite animals to see at the Cincinnati Zoo.  Could a naked mole rat be the pet they're looking for?
But wait a minute - what's that foul-mouthed lady bug doing there?

Naked mole rats are one of the few mammals that live in a colony with a Queen, like bees and ants.  You can see the Queen in the left room, where she has an attendant.  Naked mole rats are hairless except for large whiskers, they have large protruding yellow front teeth to gnaw on underground tubers, and are subterranean desert dwellers from Africa.  To learn more about naked mole rats, click here.

  1. Oh Goodness, NTM, Miss Boo and I hope they don't pick one of those ugly little buggers for a pet! ;-) Hairless animals just give us the vapors! Miss Boo has such soft fur, I love to pet her. She loves to be petted also...like till my arm almost falls off! Silly Girl that she is. When I stop, she yells at me till I start again. LOL... =^..^=

    Hugs,
    Kimmie & Miss Boo

They better not show up in our yard, if they know what's good for them!
